I know its really back-dated but no choice, been a busy bee lately. Had a little getaway with sweetie to Bintan...we really needed the retreat to rejuvenate before a new year start. Our initial plan was to go Bangkok but he is worried that all the mayhem in Thailand may toy on us.
Things in Bintan are really expensive. y? coz' they know that we're pretty much confined in the small island without much to do and coz' travellers who are there are either ang-mohs or Singaporeans. What a strategic way to 'tock' our money. My advise to anyone going there :"Don't bother changing rupiah" coz as far as i know, rupiah in Bintan is pretty redundant. Furthermore, coz' things are soooooooo expensive, u'll end up forking out rupiah in million dollars denomination. Sweetie and I converted SGD$200 to rupiah only to find ourselves using our unconverted sgd$$ more...*#&%(^%(#!
But the overall experience was great! The trip really relaxes us from the mundane work life. Everyday we're greeted by excellent & well-mannered services from the staff in the hotel and every where else. I feel sooo welcomed the moment i set my foot in the hotel. Also, i find the hotel really thoughtful..see we're strolling at the beach barefooted & unknowingly stepped on some black tars that were impossible to remove with pure water. We thought, shit..this will stay but later we found out that the hotel actually prepare bottles of thinner for their guest at the poolside. They even have remedies to cure/soothe jellyfish sting. How thoughtful,yah?
