Subaru Car Challenge'08
They are cold...
They are hungry...
They are tired...
They are thirsty...
And they really need to wee wee...
But these contestants stand thru thick & thin; mind over will power to survive in the competition. Clinging onto every hope to win the car..
My company was amongst the few companies who sponsor the Subaru Car Challenge so i had to go down to the event to snap a few shot of my logo and posters. Unlike every other year, this year the SCC have opened up the challenge to regional countries like Malaysia & Thailand. There are altogether 13 cars to lay their hands on. Aside from the actual SCC challenge, we found out that Subaru has open up another 2 more cars as an open category for passer-by to join in the fun too. They don't have be the last one standing. So long as they stand according to the given time, they'll be rewarded with gifts like Subaru note pad, towel, etc..1 hour was the maximum time needed to win. So you can only imagine how many 'obasang' laid their hands on the 2 cars lah! This year's condition was especially tough on the contestants as the heavy down pour was ever so consistent; its wearing them out. Some were shaking in the cold weather, their hands and legs turned pale. Can you imagine how it feels like to be soaked the whole day?

He's slipping off any moment...

see those yellow stipes on his wrist? he's been given 2 warning for forfeiting, the 3rd time & he's out..

And look what's Paul trying to do? But the shot actually looks natural

i love this photo the most...the gf looking longingly as her bf..
can you feel her distressed heart?

The bf(the one with the yellow bands)..still looking strong here but the fact is he's loosing it already, he was gloomy. On the contrary, the guy next to him is still bubbly & told us he was hallucinating a moment ago, saying he tot the competition is over & that everyone was clapping their hands to rejoice. He nearly lift up his hands to clap..lol! But he got back together & posed for us...applaud his will power!
During the 5 minutes break, we encountered another couple that shook our emotion. The malay guy strolled back after just 2 mintues of the break which they were given 5 minutes. Was that his strategy? We don't know..but we saw him trembling his way back to his car. He looked frail, pale..and his legs were swelling from standing bare footed on the ground, covered with rain water. We noticed a pretty & slim build malay lady gazing sorrowfully at the malay guy, we knew for sure that she is the gf. My heartaches upon seeing that, she must be feeling the same. She trynna talked him out but he persisted on. I cannot imagine how i will feel if sweetie were to stand in that position, & go thru the same thing. Tears might just roll down uncontrollably. Afterall, i'm just a 'xiao nu ren'..
Enough of those emotional thingy...after that we went to have lunch at Waraku (Heeren). I must say that apart from their noodles, everything else suck! Service suck, or at least they try to serve us well but emotionlessly...Their sashimi suck too...i think Iciban Boshi served better & fresher salmon sashimi than this. And to think that Waraku is such a high end japanese restaurant...i really feel that it is not worth the spending.

They serve really big bowl...but average quantity

i suppose the 'big bowl' presentation is just a gimmick la

Cheers!
